Grand Pappy du Plenty is the eleventh and final track from the band's debut album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It is completely instrumental and has a distinctive lighter-sound, compared to the rest of the album. The song was written by Flea, Jack Sherman, and producer Andy Gill. The song was meant to serve as a more emotional counterbalance to the crazy party songs that dominate the album.

Grand Pappy du Plenty has been the most performed song from the album in the past 25 years, being a mainstay on the One Hot Minute Tour, where they would tend to play this song as an intro to "Give It Away". After the album's release, the song was played on the 1984 tour (to promote the album), on the Freaky Styley Tour, and then was forgotten until it made its comeback in the One Hot Minute Tour. It was also played a few times on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik Tour and once in the I'm With You Tour.
